Great Week (1/28/2006)
This week was like Christmas my bike arrived finally and I taught myself how to put a bike together. Adjust the derailers and shorten the bike chain. In addition to a bicycle my Christmas presents finally arrived and so I have among other things a great cook book to give me ideas for what I can cook.
Speaking of food last Saturday as the honored guest I was presented with the dessert cake of goat. Apparently roasted goat is the regional speciality. I was told that only the elders are supposed to eat the ribs and then and I could see that the ribs were only being offered to the people at the high table and then they put a big plate in front of me and told me to eat. I could not refuse the meat was tender and tamu sana.
My house is coming together right before the school starts. The only outstanding project is the curtains but that was waiting for the students to return. Also there will be four new wazungu living next to me starting tomorrow so I will probably now be able to enjoy group dinners.
Enjoy life,
T.
P.S. Since I start teaching next week you may find my emails less frequent.
