Misc Thoughts from Tanzania (1/14/2006)

Last week follow up. Most of you probably already knew the trick for ugi that is not look like mutant tapioca is to add the powder to cool water. I have not produced the same chapati twice, but then again I only made three last week. One day I missed breakfast, and felt crummy the whole day even though the day itself was remarkably good. I did some much needed exploration of the road behind the school, found the body of water I wanted to find. Even got some things around the house done. Identified that the only thing wrong was missing was my breakfast. I felt much better the next day when I made hashbrowns with an egg.

But my enthusiasm for house cleaning is starting to wane. Last week I mopped the entire house, and it felt really good to have the house clean. But it left my legs sore and my back tired. I have noticed now that I sweep everyday, it is less necessary. Which brings me to the dilemma: do I really need to do it today? And after cutting my hands pulling weeds, I find myself backing way from doing things, because I don't want to re-open the wound. But it was only a scratch and I was really just looking for an excuse. Sigh, if can type an email I suppose I can probably hang the second mosquito net, mop the floor et cetera.

Oh, and almost forgot the real news. I recently had a power outage. It lasted for two nights and one day. I am glad that I had started cooking early because I found that I do not like the smell of my kerosine lamp. Rather I do not like the fact that I can smell the burning of kerosine, because I think if I can smell it it will not do good things to my health. So after the sun went down I followed shortly. Of course this means that I wake up in the darkness but I think because I have been sleeping it is more peaceful. I also have things you discover in the dark story and maybe I'll share it next week.

Finally I started read Papillon, which is one of those few books that even though it is horribly told the story is so good you really can't stop reading. Kind of like my emails, except I guess I don't have the plot either, so who knows why you read this?Think about why you read and I'll let you know my answer next time (if I remember).
